Svati Chakravarty Bhatkal

Svati Bhatkal has been a communications professional for close to 30

years. The media in which she has worked include print, audio,

video and interactive.

The various streams with which she has been closely associated

are journalism, book publishing, e-learning, music, education,

branding, film and television.

Satyamev Jayate was her debut as

lyricist as she penned songs for four episodes – Child Sexual

Abuse, Intolerance to Love, Fighting Rape and Mental Health.

Although she started my career as a journalist, she moved in a few

years towards traditional and non-traditional publishing and

spent over a decade in fields allied with education. Some of her

most challenging work has been in the area of children’s

content. the creation of a hundred illustrated children’s titles in

English, Hindi and Kannada for UNICEF was a project that

challenged and enthused me greatly. It took her on a journey

within rural Karnataka and Jharkhand where we sourced

authentic children’s voices, interacted with hundreds of school

kids and their teachers and learnt that which according to her can’t be found

on Google.

In the interactive space, she has led the creation of several

hundred hours of multimedia fun and learn content for

2005: Subject – Writing for New Media with specific emphasis

on e learning

Former Vice-chairperson, Children’s Film Society of India

Co-author of children’s film script, Zokkomon, produced by

Walt Disney, that was released in the summer of 2011

Co-author of scripts for television serial Bombay Lawyers,

aired on NDTV, 2008
